A unique experience when visiting Port Macquarie is a trip to visit the koala hospital.
The very sick koalas and new admissions are treated in the John Williamson Wing. There is a large glass window where you can view specialised treatment being carried out inside Numerous koalas can be seen, some are permanently here as they are unable to be released back into wild. Others are here recovering from injuries they may have received mainly from motor vehicles, dogs, bushfires and diseases such as Chlamydiosis.
A wander around the yards they can be spotted resting in the trees. Most yards have a sign saying the name of the Koala and the reason why it is here, displayed.
A FREE guided tour is held at 3pm each day
