Geocache Description:

Where you stand is called The BIG Island, even though you probably see no water here. Why? Because the four other islands are SMALLER islands. These are islands of grass, trees, and huge boulders surrounded by varieties of homes, some with lovely flowering trees in the spring, and ablaze with red maples in the fall. The Hills could be called, less fancifully, hillocks, over which Chief Okemos and his band used to travel. Even though the Red Cedar River sometimes overflows its banks and enters some streets in the spring, and even though this island occasionally looks like a lake from heavy rains,  the nearby hillocks stand above it all. In this cache you will find a history of this early Michigan forward-looking subdivision created by Al Ehinger. This named cache was originally in a nearby tree, and became lost. This new one attempts to make it easier for kids to find and reach. Enjoy. CGAMBOY
