Geocache Description:

A settlement has existed at Fawley for many centuries and the village itself was recorded in the Doomsday Book. Fawley stands at the Eastern edge of the New Forest on Southampton Water. The Parish has Bronze Age barrows, Roman remains and an old Roman road. It is perhaps best known for the large, now decomissioned, Fawley Power Station and the Refinery, the largest oil refinery in the United Kingdom and one of the most complex refineries in Europe, which dominate the landscape.

All Saints Church (CM Fawley (GC73DJ3)) is the oldest building in the area built in the 12th century and extended over the centuries, but has records of church activity in the Parish dating back to 971A.D. In 'The Square' at Fawley there are buildings dating back to 1793 and the Jubilee Hall built to mark Queen Victoria's Golden Jubilee.

There is little open-source information on the hall except to list the amenities available including somewhat surprisingly, two squash courts!

At the given co-ords you will find two foundation stones. One commemorates the original building work in 1887, the second marks the opening of the extension on AB March CDEF.

The cache can be found at N50° 49.(E-B)(D-C)(E+C) W001° 20.E(A+B+F)A

Good Luck!
