Albert Park is so named due to the school – one of Saskatoon’s oldest. It is a tribute to the city’s early British history with its acknowledgement of Queen Victoria’s husband, Prince Albert. When the school was no longer used, City Councillor Kate Waygood initiated it becoming a community centre open to the public. It houses a number of activities including an indoor playground, dance group, the Saskatoon Potters Guild and an Akido studio. It is managed by volunteers and maintains a cooperative approach.
