Geocache Description:

Cooma Cottage was the home of the first Australian born explorer, Hamilton Hume. The original colonial bungalow forms part of the earliest complex of dwellings and stables on the site. Hume bought the cottage and the 100 acres for ₤601 in 1840 for his new life as a pastoralist. Hume spent 20 years enthusiastically building extensions to the cottage! He lived there for the rest of his life. The house was also used as a sanatorium for consumptives in the late 1890s. These days, the house is a museum, which is open to the public on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays. There is a $10 entry fee, but you do not need to visit the museum to find this cache. Indeed, the cache is outside of the property, and can be found at any time.
