Geocache Description:


This cache is close to the memorial to two postmen who died after being caught in a blizzard on 1st February 1831.

The cache is at the published coordinates, in order to find the memorial stone you need to walk about 30 metres in a North Westerly direction.

The postmen died while endeavouring to get their mail through to Tweedshaw, but got stuck in the snow, they managed to free their horses but they sadly succumbed to the brutal weather. They were found with their mail bags still on their shoulder.
