La Porta Palatina (in piemontese Pòrta Palatin-a o Tor Roman-e) era la Porta Principalis dextera che consentiva l'accesso da settentrione alla Augusta Taurinorum, ovvero Torino. Essa rappresenta la principale testimonianza archeologica dell'epoca romana della città, nonché una delle porte urbiche del I secolo a.C. meglio conservate al mondo. Insieme all'antico teatro, posto a poca distanza, è compresa nell'area del Parco Archeologico inaugurato nel 2006.

La Porta Principalis Sinistra consentiva l'accesso al cardo maximus, attualmente identificabile nella via Porta Palatina e via San Tommaso. I suoi imponenti resti sono attualmente visibili al centro di un'area aperta, l'odierna piazza Cesare Augusto. Del tutto analoga alla Porta Decumana, inclusa nella successiva struttura medievale dell'attuale Palazzo Madama, essa testimonia un esempio di tipica porta ad cavaedium, ovvero una struttura a doppia porta con statio, un cortile quadrangolare sul lato interno i cui resti, posti davanti ai varchi, ne sono la testimonianza. Alte più di trenta metri, le due torri angolari sono caratterizzate da una base quadrata e dal corpo scandito da una sfaccettatura a sedici lati. È doveroso specificare però che soltanto la torre destra e l'interturrio centrale risalgono all'epoca romana. Il prospetto dell'interturrio è lungo circa venti metri e presenta monofore ad arco nel primo ordine e finestre con piattabanda piana nel registro superiore. Nella porzione sottostante si aprono i due fornici carrai e due più piccoli varchi pedonali posti lateralmente; le scalanature presenti lungo le pareti interne dei varchi suggeriscono l'originaria presenza di cateractae, ovvero un probabile sistema di saracinesche, o semplici grate, manovrate dal piano superiore. Sul terreno nelle immediate vicinanze della porta è ancora presente parte del basolato di epoca romana, su cui si possono notare ancora i solchi sulle pietre provocati dal transito del carri. La coppia di statue bronzee raffiguranti Cesare Augusto e Giulio Cesare non sono originali ma copie risalenti all'ultimo, radicale intervento di restauro del 1934. Esse, tuttavia, sono oggetto di contestazione, in quanto poste erroneamente nell'area interna occupata dalla statio e non esternamente ove, eventualmente, avrebbero avuto più attinenza.

The Palatine Gate (Italian: Porta Palatina or Porte Palatine; Piedmontese: Tor Roman-e) is a Roman Age city gate located in Turin, Italy. The gate provided access through the city walls of Julia Augusta Taurinorum (modern Turin) from the North side and, as a result, it constituted the Porta Principalis Dextra (Right-Side Main Gate) of the old town. The Palatine Gate represents the primary archaeological evidence of the city's Roman phase, and is one of the best preserved 1st-century BC Roman gateways in the world. Together with the ancient theatre's remains, located a short distance away, it is part of the so-called Archaeological Park, opened in 2006.

The Porta Principalis Dextra served as an access to the cardo maximus, currently identified in Via Porta Palatina and Via San Tommaso. Its impressive remains are currently visible at the center of an open area, today's Piazza Cesare Augusto. Quite similar to the ancient Porta Decumana, built into the medieval structure of the present-day Palazzo Madama, the Palatine Gate represents an example of a typical Roman gate facing a cavaedium (quadrangular courtyard on the inside of the city walls), the remains of which are placed in front of the gate. Erected on a square base, the two angular towers are more than thirty metres high and feature a sixteen-sided structure. The central body, namely the interturrio, is about twenty metres long and is characterized by two orders of windows, the lower one composed of arch windows and the upper one made up of jack arch windows. The underlying portion features four entryways: the central ones are larger and taller and are vehicle accessible, while the two entryways to the sides are narrower and shorter and served as pedestrian passageways. The grooves along the entryways' inner walls suggest the original presence of the so-called cateractae, an alleged system of gate gratings operated from the upper floor. On the ground near the gate is still part of the guardhouse added in the Roman period, on which one can see the furrows on the stones caused by the transit of wagons. The pair of bronze statues depicting Augustus Caesar and Julius Caesar are not the original statues but copies from the last, radical restoration of 1934. However, they are object of discussion as they were incorrectly placed in the internal area occupied by the statio and not outside the gate, where they would possibly have more relevance.

La porte Palatine est un monument ancien de Turin, en Italie. Une partie de sa structure date de l'époque romaine et le reste de l'époque médiévale. C'est une des quatre portes de la ville romaine, accès nord de la ville d'Augusta Taurinorum, aujourd'hui Turin. Elle est située près du Duomo et du Palais royal.

Dans son aspect actuel, le bâtiment comprend deux tours polygonales, de seize faces chacune, et une porte centrale. Seule cette dernière est une structure originale romaine, les tours ayant été ajoutées à l'époque médiévale. Les créneaux datent de 1404. Le nom de Porta Palazzo vient de Porta Palatii, en latin « porte du palais », se référant au palais impérial proche, qui abrita de nombreux personnages historiques, y compris les rois lombards et Charlemagne, et qui fut ensuite le siège des autorités communales.

Au cours du début du xviiie siècle lors de la reconstruction urbaine à Turin, la porte n'a été préservée que grâce à l'intervention personnelle de l'architecte Antonio Bertola. Elle a été l'un des monuments les plus vieux à être sauvé de la destruction. Deux statues en bronze (copies de statues anciennes) ont été placées en face du monument au cours de l'ère fasciste. En 2006, la Ville de Turin a lancé une requalification en zone archéologique, ce qui rend les tours accessibles au public avec la création d'un parking souterrain pour les voitures du marché à proximité de Porta Palazzo.
