Geocache Description:

This is the first in a series of caches in Cumbernauld House Park and Cumbernauld Glen. The House and Glen have a rich history, from hundreds of years ago to more recent times, and the series takes you to some of these historical places and gives details of what you'll see. There's also plenty of wildlife, including deer which you stand a good chance of seeing when you're in some of the quieter parts of the Glen.

The Glen has lots of paths, from very good tarmac ones to lesser trails, all the way down to those that are very faint. The cache series takes you along some of each, so walking boots or similar are advised as there can be muddy sections. Also note that one of the caches involves a paddle in a river, so again boots or wellies will come in useful. Many of the paths that connect the caches aren't shown on maps and it could be tricky knowing how to get from one cache to the next, so some of the caches contain waypoints and directions to get there from the previous cache. For this reason, we suggest you do them in order.

As for this cache ...

The published co-ordinates take you to an information board. Find the paragraph about the Ha-Ha, answer these questions, and count the number of letters in each answer to get A, B and C.

A: The Ha-Ha is described as a ??? ditch

B: The object that was burned

C: The movement of what around the estate?

Now go to Stage 2 where you will find another information board.

D: Construction of Cumbernauld House started in 17XY. D = X - Y

E: The Earl of Wigton was born in 16E3

F: Beneath the architect's drawings we are told that the house was designed circa 17F0

The cache is at N 55° 57.ABC' W 3° 58.DEF
