The cache is not hidden at the posted coordinates. The posted coordinates are for the entrance to Dahan Stronghold.
If you've taken a look at any of my other caches in Matsu, you can see that I love bunkers and other secret hiding places. The Dahan Stronghold is the largest tunnel complex that I've been to in Taiwan.
The three levels of tunnels were completed in 1976 and originally held a headquarters, living facilities, offices, and of course various weapons and strategic rooms. The tunnels were opened to the public in 2006 and total 430 meters in length.
But, where is the geocache?
The final coordinates are hidden. Even if you knew them, it would do little good; you'll be underground and your GPSr will likely not function well. So, here are some clues to help you find the cache.
- The cache is on the ground level, the level where you entered the tunnels.
- The cache is located near the room that the following sign points to.

Once you find the room that the sign is pointing to, here is the final clue you need to locate the cache:
- The cache is located just at the entrance of the room. As you're facing the room, look at the right-hand side, where the natural rock wall meets the white man-made wall. At about head height you'll see some stones covering a hole that holds the cache.
You have some exploring to do. Good luck!
NOTE: The tunnel complex is open from 8AM to 5PM. Please bring a pen; the log sheet must be signed to qualify as a Find. This is a popular tourist area so please be sure to use stealth and hide the container with stones when replacing.
