Geocache Description:

When placing this cache I had to pull up a few Caesar weeds to get to GZ. While some people love them because of their pretty pink flowers, others like me hate them because of the burrs they have that seems to stick to almost all of my clothes. And since they are an invasive species, the park personnel encourage removing them. So if you see them and have the time and energy, feel free to pull them up, try to make sure you get the roots and then just lay them down sideways and the sun will dry the roots and kill them. Or if you feel real adventurous, you can put them in a bag and toss them in the trash can when you get back.

This small sized cache container is part of the Bee Line Run. Many geocachers make a beeline for the new caches, hence the name along with the fact that it is heading to and from the Bee Island primitive camping site.

Bee Island is not surrounded by water, nor are there any swarms of bees living there now. It got it’s name from years ago when it was an elevated stretch of long leaf pines in the middle of a massive grassy cattle pasture and there were swarms of bees that settlers used to produce sweet palmetto honey.

The road can be accessed via hiking or biking (mountain bike, mostly hard packed but bumpy). And depending on the time of year it could also have large sections of water to navigate around or through. So be aware and prepare!

Please make sure to take adequate amounts of water and bug spray depending on the time of year.

It is around a 6 mile trek, 3 in and 3 back if you start at the main road and ranch house road and then head to the Bee Island primitive camping area and back.

Please take a few seconds to close the container properly. What takes you a few seconds to do, saves us from spending hours and $$$$ replacing swag, logs and containers. Also please re-hide as well as you found it or better so it doesn't get muggled. Thanks!
