Caches are placed at a location which has usually some special interest, beauty or a favourite place previously visited. Roadside caches, not always a favourite, and quite commonly used for speed (Cache and Dash (C&D)), normally have limited options. This series of caches are primarily for the newbies and families with young children. Having to walk too far can be problematic and finding only the basic plastic containers, not too much fun for the wee ones?
Geocache containers come in all different shapes and sizes. It can be more or less ANYTHING, but it's usually a small metal or plastic box that can withstand the elements, and protect from the curious and sometimes hungry livestock/wildlife.
Geocache containers should be waterproof to protect cache contents from rain, snow, ice, and condensation.
There are certain types of hides used by Geocachers:
Bison Tubes.
Containers (mainly plastic).
Natural Hides.
Sneaky Hides.
Magnetic Hides.
Novelty Hides.
If you find any cache container with water inside, a wet log, soiled Geo-goodies, then please do not hesitate to raise a MAINTENANCE issue. Cache Owners (CO) should maintain their caches on a regular basis.
PLEASE ensure that you have small tweezers and something to write with. THANKS
