Geocache Description:

Statue of the Christ in Gozo is to be found on the top of Tas-Salvatur hill. The present statue is 6-metre high and its arms stretch 6 metres wide. Five times smaller than the one in Rio de Janeiro, but still pretty impressive.

According to oral tradition, the first stone statue of Our Saviour was placed on top of the hill in 1870. The second was made of wood, quickly damaged by nature. Then replaced with statues (cross) made from stone. The statue was replaced several times as most of them suffered serious structural damage due to its exposure to the elements. The current statue was placed in July 1979 and restored in 2014.

The walk up to the Tas-Salvatur hill is quite steep but manageable. Only the very last piece of the way leading to the actual statue is a bit tricky. If you want to go right under the statue you have to climb a little, but even if you don’t, you are pretty close and you can get a good view of the statue.

The cache is behind. Go around on little path. The view is amazing.

Of course is behind rocks not wood ;).

Can one bring small pen or pencil, mine broke on the way there. So nothing to write inside. Please write in English (or translate it) so everyone can understand.
