...... Malahat is the name of a Coast Salish group on southern Vancouver Island, British Columbia, Canada. There are three rest-stop or viewpoint pull-offs along the summit, all accessed northbound only. This is the second one. All three are worth stopping at. Enjoy the hunt. Note: Be stealthy when muggles are nearby. I found it in clear view on a recent maintenance check. Re-hide well. "The Malahat Drive is a scenic coastal mountain highway north of Victoria that finally replaced a tortuous 19th-century wagon road that meandered from Goldstream to the Cowichan Valley. The three-day trek over the inland route was a major inconvenience for the settlers who relied on a weekly steamer from Victoria for supplies. Farmers on the rich agricultural land in the Cowichan valley agitated for years for a quicker way to get produce to Victoria, but government bureaucrats insisted a road on the east side of the mountain was an impossible dream. Two government surveyors in the 1870s said it would be a waste of money and should never be built." Yet here you stand today..
