Please note that this cache should be done from the bottom of the bridge. It is a VERY dangerous road and you should NOT under any circumstances try to stop on the N2. The cache should be attempted from the bottom. Note the turn-off waypoint!
Access hours: 08:00-22:30
When standing at GZ, you are looking at a George Heritage site. The cache is close to the sign indicating that it is a Heritage sign, with some extra info to tell you more about the area. Your GPS might jump around because of the Kaaimans Bridge structure, so follow the hints carefully. I took several readings and all of them were different.
Please replace the cache in such a way that it cannot be seen by muggles, as best you can.
Kaaimansgat is the place where the Swart- and Kaaimans Rivers join. They flow to the sea under the well photographed Kaaimans train bridge.
The N2 was only built in the late 1940s. The little old bridge used to cross the river by ox wagons are still visible a few meters away from the current bridge.
The big bridge over which the N2 runs, is a great masterpiece. It is the first bridge in South Africa to vary in three dimensions - it is both curved and cambered and the southern end is lower than the northern end.
When looking for the cache, enjoy your time in the area.
It has plenty to offer.
Thanks to Travelbucket for the info.
