Geocache Description:

The town of Mineral, just a little way down the road, was originally named for the fact that it was a mining town.  It was well known for its mines of zinc and lead, not to mention the gold mines in the area.  During the height of the mining era, there were over 15 gold mines in the area of Mineral in Louisa County.

Prospectors looking for these rich minerals would often dig a small hole in the ground to bury explosives and then set it off.  This hole looked like and was given the name of Coyote Hole, because it looked like the den that Coyotes would dig and call their home.

The owners of the property have given permission to place this cache here, but please respect the property and only cache during hours when the gate is open.

The cache is a regular size container with a note pad and pens, and a few little items of swag to get started with.  FTF can find a collector’s pin from the Salt Lake Olympics in 2002.

Enjoy and have a safe cache.
