Geocache Description:

This cache is located in the Runge Conservation Area.

In the early 1800s there was a cemetery located in this area on what was the Wyatt- Dix Farm. Later as the farm changed hands it was referred to as the Charles -Dix farm cemetery.   There was much question as to its existence. Some claim it doesn’t exist at all. There were only a few buried there.  At some point during the mid-late 1900s the cemetery was moved for the construction of a new subdivision. The graves were later moved to another Jefferson City cemetery however the headstones remained.   They are still there today. Feel free to walk up and look at the old stones, it’s well worth the hike.   As of 2020 the cemetery has received much needed restoration and all the stones have been set up.  The cemetery is located North West of the cache far up into the woods. It is requested that you don’t venture to the cemetery without permission as there is no trail leasing to it. Permission granted for placing caches in conservation area.
