Geocache Description:

The cache is so named because it is near a pond in the Erwin Wildlife Management Area (WMA) where a beaver lives. The pond is officially named the John C. Kuehnle Memorial Pond.

Locating the cache: There is a road that will get you within 80 yards of the cache. This road is only open to vehicles during the fall hunting season. Most of the year you will have to walk or mountain bike from parking areas on either side of the WMA. So, most of the year be prepared to walk 1.4 to 2 miles depending upon which side you start. The cache is physically located in a hollow stump, that is part way up a small ridge.

The land around the pond and the cache can be wet so it would be best to wear waterproof shoes. For more info on the WMA, visit NYS DEC's site http://www.dec.ny.gov/outdoor/24434.html If you like to fish, bring your gear.
