This is a short trail, going round in a loop, where you can hunt the “Fairy Trail” and the “Ruff Road”.
You can start from the car park at the castle (Cache 1: Log the Fairy Door) and take a leisurely walk through the Chinese Garden, down the hill towards the Fairy Glen, along the shores of Loch Lomond, before heading back up the hill to the castle. Shouldn’t take much more than an hour.
This is a popular place for dog walkers, and the “Ruff Road” is dedicated to my favourite animal.
The caches are small, you might need tweezers. Please replace exactly as found and ensure they are closed properly.
Chow Chow This distinctive-looking dog breed has a proud, independent spirit that some describe as catlike. He can be aloof — if you’re looking for a cuddle buddy, this probably isn’t the best breed for you — and downright suspicious of strangers. But for the right person, he’s a fiercely loyal companion. Experts have long speculated that the Chow Chow is one of the oldest dog breeds, and genetic testing has proven that to be true. The ancient breed is believed to have originated in Mongolia and Northern China, slowly moving south with the nomadic tribes of Mongolia.
