SideTracked - Malton Event Cache

This cache has been archived.

sinblack: In the London area 'trespassers on the line' is code for 'Signal Passed At Danger'. That is the driver made a mistake but they do not want to tell the public. Not sure if that is only on the Liverpool Street line or country wide.

Trains aside thanks all for attending. Also thanks to the muggle who caused confusion by being chatty and friendly before disappearing as he was not there for the event. It is nice to see new faces and have the opportunity to shout over the traffic noise.

Geocache Description:

23 March 2019, 15:30 - 16:00

Old Time visitor passing through Malton Station. Old Time visitor.

We will be meeting at a part sheltered public seating area adjacent to the railway crossing east of Malton Station.

The event will run for half an hour from 3.30pm until 4.00pm on Saturday 23rd March 2019 to meet other cachers and chat about geocaching in the local area.

Malton Station is much reduced from former glories where it is now a single platform, previously it had two and was once an interchange of three lines to Scarborough, Pickering and Driffield. It boasted some 300 staff who worked at the station and adjacent railway works. The signal box overlooking the junction is the remains of once two boxes that controlled a busy railway junction.
