After Crete became independent in 1898 Kalo Chorio became the capital of the area Pediados. Many buildings and houses were erected at that time. The windmill on the north side of the village was built in 1900 by the Andronas family. It has been in service until 1970 for graining flower to make bread. The farmers came from around with their packed donkeys and were eating, drinking and exchanging the latest news around the mill while waiting for their turn to grain. They did not pay the miller with money, but with a percentage of their product. The windmill has been renovated in 2001. From here you have a magnificent view over thet area Pediados and through the Aposelemis gorge with the village of Analipsi at the end of it down at the coast. You can walk from this cache to the other Cache The Church of Timios Stavros, GC837JJ. And also have a nice meal or drink in to the Village.
