A series of ten caches named after some well known and much loved train characters. Placed with the kind permission of Nottinghamshire County Council.
This new footpath has been much anticipated locally and will provide a great route between Radcliffe and Cotgrave with access to the Country Park. It follows the old mineral railway line, which used to link the colliery at Cotgrave with the main railway network at Radcliffe. It opened in 1960 at the same time as the colliery opened and fell into disuse when the mine closed in 1993. Nottinghamshire County Council bought the land in 2010 and the track was lifted in 2012, but there are still the odd few bits of sleepers and rails lying around today. The line had been used as an informal footpath until the end of 2018 when it was improved with the addition of access ramps and a better surface, making it more accessible and an official footpath.
The series is designed to be child friendly; all caches are accessed from the path. Please replace as found.
