Quiet Lanes walk
A circular walk of approx.2.5 miles mostly along designated “Quiet Lanes” around Inkberrow. All but the last 0.4 miles are on small country lanes, with posts every so often declaring them to be a “Quiet Lane”.
NOTE: The CPRE defines Quiet Lanes thus:
Quiet Lanes are designated minor rural roads intended to pay special attention to the needs of walkers, cyclists, horse riders and the mobility impaired. They are designed to enable users to enjoy country lanes in greater safety and encourage car drivers to respect more vulnerable road users.
The last part of the route is along footpaths which might be muddy in parts. There are multiple routes you could choose on the footpath part – several footpaths go roughly the right way, and you can choose which you prefer: there are two caches on this part of the walk.
The circuit has 9 new caches, but it also goes past 2 existing caches that are all that remains of one of our earlier series. You could also take a look at the Inkberrow church micro, and the three FYI caches nearby -
HINT: you should get the FYI info BEFORE you do the QL series.
The descriptions are written as if you are travelling clockwise around the circuit, starting from Inkberrow church.
NOTE: The church car park is a good place to start, and a sign at the gate of the church encourages ramblers and walkers to park in the church car park, so it's all legit.
The walk was very pretty on a clear, sunny, warm February morning when we set it out. We saw a lot of dog-walkers and joggers enjoying the nice weather.
We planned this circuit as a ‘winter-friendly’ route as most of it is on good roads, and won’t be much affected by mud. The final footpath section could be missed out if the footpaths are too wet, and you could return via the road through the houses. Follow Pepper street all the way up to the Post Office and turn right. At the end of the cul de sac there is a short footpath down to the Church Car Park.
The whole walk is dog friendly, with only one footbridge and a couple of stiles. You would not want to take a pushchair through the footpath part, but the Pepper Street alternative is fine.
For this first cache you are looking for a film canister micro. With many of these caches, we loved to hear the sound of the birdsong as we walked along these quiet lanes. This one especially.
