In a far flung corner of the United Kingdom, Brough of Birsay, is a tiny island off the mainland of the Orkneys. Meet and greet at this historic place on Wednesday, 3rd April 2019 at 15:15 to 15:45 when it is possible to wade over through shallow waters or over the exposed causeway during low tide.
For those who do not live on the mainland of the Orkney Islands reaching Birsay is a challenge which will involved sailing or flying across the sea. But for everyone, reaching the Brough of Birsay will involved timing with the tide for the driest possible passage. On the Brough of Birsay is the abandon Viking and Pictish settlement that was once occupied for three centuries. We meet just outside of the ruins. The weather is very likely to be inclement, but I can promise a warm welcome at GZ with Trackables to discover and a good geochat. Who is up for the adventure?Â
