Not many people know that the old Taipei Childeren Amusment Park in Yuanshan had been build since Japanese-ruled period in 1934. At the very beginning, it was just a small playground in Yuanshan Zoo. After the zoo moving to Muzha (todays Taipei Zoo) in 1986, Taipei City Government decided to expand the playground (3 hectares) to a large amusement park (9.8 hectares). The old Taipei Children Amusement Park went on service in 1991. To Taipei people with the same age as AJ & ROSE, the old amusement park is a part of our childhood.
The old Taipei Children Amusment Park is consist of 3 areas, World of Yesterday, World of Tomorrow, and World of Amusement. In World of Yesterday, there were many traditional buildings with some traditional Taiwanese children folk-games. In World of Tomorrow, there were exhibitions and a theather providing scientific knowledges. Those two areas above had been turn into a part of todays Taipei EXPO park in 2014. The World of Amusement was abandoned at the same time, but some of amusement instruments remained. Althought Taipei City Govenrment has planned to rebuild the World of Amusment in to a memorial park, there were no new construction in that area.
The new Taipei Childeren Amusment Park locates in Shilin. You can find it also along the bike trail to GC6JXRH (need to cross a bridge). Now, AJ & ROSE were not children anymore, so we are not intrested in the new one. However, while we rode bikes passing the old park, the broken small Ferris Wheel and Carousel always brought us back to the good old days.
