Welcome to the first (and last) in a series of native american history caches. All caches in this series will be near native american history areas.
This first (and last) cache is near the site of the Sand Creek Massacre. Please place cache back as found.

On November 29, 1864, the Colorado U.S. Cavalry attacked the Cheyenne and Arapaho village near sand creek.
Most of this army was made up of volunteers. The rest was under the command of Captain Silas Soule and Lieutenant Joseph Cramer.
Both men commanded their experienced troops to not attack. If it was not for them, then very few Cheyenne and Arapaho would have escaped.
