Porterstown View
Porterstown is an area in West Dublin, Eire, which may give a clue to the origin of the name. However old maps show this name has been here for a great many years.
In the fields to the south (and uphill) there can be a small herd of black sheep in the summer and autumn.
Down below in the trees there is a quarry and old mine workings, where it is said a lengthy ball of string would be helpful should you dare to enter and expect to find your way back out!
To the North East are beautiful views (weather permitting) of Mid Nithsdale, with the Lowther Hills and Queensbury visible. It’s best in the afternoon with the sun behind you. Down below across the river Nith is the hamlet of Closeburn, with its castle, church and school in the distance.
This cache is easy to find provided you find the right road. There is a gate nearby providing a recess for parking, but this isn’t a busy road, so it can quite literally be a stop, cache and dash.
If this were possible, this is a “smell” cache – you decide what the container used to contain.
Pen provided.
