Please join me for my take on a Creation Celebration Event focusing on cryptex containers.
Geocaching HQ has announced a souvenir promotion beginning on March 25th and going through April 14th called "Cache Carnival". There are a total of 6 souvenirs that can be earned. Five by finding caches or attending events and a sixth by attending a HQ approved "Creation Celebration" event. This event has been approved by HQ for official "Creation Celebration" status.
What is a cryptex? Think Da Vinci Code. I often describe them as cylindrical devices with dials that must be arranged in a specific manner in order to allow the two pieces to be pulled apart. There will be examples of the materials used, the different pieces prior to assembly, and a demonstration cryptex for attendees to assemble and disassemble.
I will have a short presentation describing the challenges of making cryptexes and outline the different types of caches I have created. We will finish with a discussion on ideas attendees may have for a cryptex - so put your thinking caps on! If any of the ideas turn out to be popular then I would offer to build a cryptex in order to bring it to fruition.
Optional pre-event activity: Come up with a specific idea for a cryptex cache and message your idea to me prior to the event. I will select the top 2 ideas and make a completed cryptex for the Geocacher to place and publish. Limitations: The answer cannot be more than 7 characters long.
