OMG! I remember the year this came out for the NES!
I had just turned 14...and yep, I was a skater for a bit. Who wasn't at that point? Rail slides, ollies, all the flips and tricks and the skinned knees and elbows that came with it...no cellphones, just great memories.
Several of us had gotten hooked on 720 at the local arcade, so when Skate or Die came out for the NES, it was a blessing...another "quarter saver", as we used to call them. Who could forget the likes of Rodney Recloose, Bionic Lester, Aggro Eddie, and even Poseur Pete? Of course, several of us were upset that we didn't have a friend named Pete at the time that we could attach that moniker to, but hey, worse things have happened. Now this one wasn't nearly as epic as any of the Zelda games, and we didn't spend nearly as much time on it as we did playing Super Dodgeball, Super Spike V'Ball, River City Ransom, Gauntlet II...well, you get the idea. Daytime was for outside; nights were for video games. We figured we could sleep when we're dead. Now that I'm thinking about it...I guess my interest in this game lasted about as long as I skated. Might have just been that year. :-)
By the way, I wouldn't recommend going to the posted coords. That's about where I anchor the R/V Rutgers when I have to get it off the dock so RU Crew can practice.
