The Banana Slide aka The Screws

In years gone by local children made their own fun using what resoures they found along with their creativity and imagination.
The Banana slide is an example of something that  provided entertainment for many children over the years but has long been forgotten.

The Monument

The 100ft high monument sitting atop Hoad hill was built in 1850 to commemorate Sir John Barrow, an Ulverstonian who became second secretary to the Admiralty and a navel explorer. The monument is a replica of the Eddystone lighthouse and can be seen from miles away.
