Since it started as the Forestry Experiment Station on August 23, 1922, the National Institute of Forest Science (NIFoS) has steadily conducted various researches on forest, forestry and wood industry as the sole national research institute under the Korea Forest Service, with an objective to develop and disseminate forest science and technology for people’s wellbeing, healthy environment and global forestation, leading the green growth.
Lacebark pine(Pinus bungeana) is native to northeastern and central China. It was introduced to Korea 650 years ago. It is a valuable ornamental tree, grown mainly for its decorative bark, and It is widely planted beside temples and garden.

백송(白松, Pinus bungeana)은 중국 원산으로 한국에는 약 650여년 전 도입된 것으로 알려져 있다.
수피가 백색으로 아룸다우며, 백색과 녹색의 조화가 신비롭다. 예로부터 주로 사원이나 정원에 기념수로 식재하였다.
