Geocache Description:

General Description: This geocache is hidden in undeniably the best view of Pikes Peak, Manitou, and the surrounding peaks that you can get anywhere in Colorado Springs. The Garden of the Gods is a spectacular park; I highly recommend that you go on a lengthy hike to explore the Garden. The cache is tucked behind the rocks next to Ridge Rd- note: There is NO PARKING on Ridge Rd. To get to the cache, plz go around back of the rocks and try not to draw too much attenton to yourself from passerby on Ridge Rd. Night caching is not neccesarily recommended in the Winter, but in the summer you will be able to see the lights of the city, and if the moon is out, the view may even be better than during the day. In the log, let me know where you're from, give feedback, and award a favorite point if you like the view :). History and Description: This cache is hidden in the most visited park in all of Colorado and offers breathtaking views of the surrounding rock formations and the Front Range. I highly encourage you to take a hike and explore the natural beauty of the park. As the Garden is built on 1,367 acres, there are plenty of trails- paved or dirt/gravel- for you to choose from. Red Rocks quarry and park is right across Highway 24, also highly recommended place to visit. Garden of the Gods was originally named Red Rock Corral by the Europeans, but was changed when two surveyors came through and thought that it would be a wonderful beer garden, one fit for the gods! The formations were created the same way that the Rockies were; an upheaval caused by a fault line millions of years ago. Many ntive peoples have also been reported to have camped or been in the park including the  Apache, Cheyenne, Comanche, Kiowa, Lakota, Pawnee, Shoshone, and Ute people. Balanced Rock, Cathedral Valley, Sentinal Spires, Steamboat Rock, and the Kissing Camels are the most known locations to snap a selfie in the park. Rock Ledge Ranch offers a unique pioneer epierience from when Colorado Springs was first settled and the Garden of the Gods Visitor Center will probably teach you more anout the parks formation and just about anything else about the park than I ever will, so on that note... Enjoy!
