WELCOME TO "HOTEL RWANDA" CACHE

This cache has been placed on the premises of the hotel that was featured in a movie of the same name. Although the movie is a dramatized version of what actually happened here and should not be used as the ultimate "reference" for the Rwandan genocide, suffice to say that a large chunk of the history of this magnificent country did play out, not necessarily here at the hotel itself, but within a tight radius of a few kilometres from this site.

There are many books that have been written about the Rwandan genocide and I suggest that you do NOT rely on the movie to give you the facts of what happened. The nearby Genocide Museum is an excellent starting point to getting some facts together - there is a cache there as well named "100 Days of Madness" GC17RWC.

Be sure to visit the fountain of rememberance at the entrance to the parking area when you are here as well. There are also at least 2 other caches in closeproximity to this one. You need to look for them as well while you are in Kigali. GC7WPP5 and GC6N55R.

Special permission has been granted by the management of Hotel des Mille Collines to place this cache on their premises. NOTE: the area is under 24 hours CCTV surveillance and senior management are aware of the cache but do not know the exact location. You WILL need to pass through the hotel secutity checkpoint at the reception entrance so please do not carry any contraband on your person. There is no entrance fee required but I would suggest that you be dressed in attire that befits the location out of respect for the hotel patrons and staff. You will need to walk through reception, into the garden passed the swimming pool and BBQ area in order to locate the cache. The cache is NOT accessible from outside the hotel grounds.
