Geocache Description:

03 April 2019, 18:30 - 19:45

Date: April 3, 2019
Time: 6:30 P.M - 7:45 P.M.
Location: Washington County Library System - St. George Branch (N 37° 06.411 W 113° 35.104) - Forsyth Community Room A

A makerspace is a collaborative workspace inside a school, or library for making, learning, exploring and sharing that uses high tech to no tech tools.  These spaces are open to kids, adults, and entrepreneurs and have a variety of maker equipment including 3D printers, laser cutters, soldering irons, and sewing machines.

The Washington County Library System opened the Sid Aikins Makerspace on January 6, 2018. It is named after a longtime library board chair and supporter.

The following equipment is available in the St. George Branch for use by the community: Ultimaker 3D Printer, Raise N2+ 3D Printer, Monoprice Select Mini 3D Printer, Brother Sewing Machines, Soldering Stations, CNC Cutter, Garage Tools, and Woodworking Tools. Safety training is required before patrons can use the equipment.

Makerspaces and Geocaching go hand in hand.  Both are only limited by the imagination of its users.

We are always impressed and sometimes stumped by creative containers.  The purpose of the event is to showcase the tools available to library patrons to inspire us. We will meet in the Forsyth Community Room A and then be invited on a tour of the Sid Aikins Makerspace.

If you have a clever container you'd like to share, please bring it along  There will be time for show and tell after the tour.

Everyone who attends this event will earn a special "Creation Celebration" souvenir.

There are also makerspaces at the Santa Clara and Hurricane branches.

The Santa Clara branch has a Makerbot 3D Printer, Cricut Explore Air Vinyl and Paper cutter, Cricut Expressions Vinyl and Paper cutter, 24” Laminator, Badge Maker, and Die Cutter.

The Hurricane Branch has a Monoprice Voxel Mini 3D Printer, Silhouette Vinyl and Paper Cutter, Brother Sewing Machines, Serger Sewing Machine, Jewelry Making Tools, and Crafts Tools
