ATTENTION : cache uniquement accessible DU MARDI AU DIMANCHE de 10H A 17H. Les portes n'ouvrent que durant ces heures la. Magnifique vue sur la ville de Sion depuis la basilique de Valère. La Basilique est accessible en montant les escaliers depuis la place Maurice-Zermatten. Cette église, Notre-Dame de Valère, bâtie aux 12ème et 13ème siècles, était la résidence des chanoines du chapitre de la cathédrale. Ils y habitèrent jusqu'à la Révolution française. Les anciennes dépendances des chanoines abritent aujourd'hui le Musée d'histoire du Valais, fondé à cet endroit en 1883 et entièrement refait depuis 2008. La basilique peut également être visitée et on peut notamment y entendre le plus vieil orgue jouable au monde (1430). ----------------------- WARNING : the cache is only accessible FROM TUESDAY TO SUNDAY from 10AM TO 5PM. The gate is open during these hours. Magnificent view of the city of Sion from the basilica of Valère. The basilica is accessible by taking the stairs from Maurice Zermatten square. This church, Notre-Dame de Valère, built in the 12th and 13th centuries, was the residence of the canons of the cathedral chapter. They lived there until the French Revolution. The former dependencies of the canons now house the Valais History Museum, founded here in 1883 and completely redone since 2008. The basilica can also be visited and you can hear the oldest playable organ in the world (1430).
