Saxon Woods CITO
Sixth year in a row! What an achievement! Saxon Woods has become much more trash-free over the years for hikers and dog-walkers to enjoy. However the branch of the Mamaroneck River which runs through Saxon Woods, obviously wants to keep the annual CITO gatherings going as it deposits all kinds of man-made objects along its banks, waiting to be picked up.
We will meet at the posted coordinates at 10:30am on Saturday, April 13th and from there proceed to the target location which is about 5min walk from the parking lot. The spot might be plenty muddy after rain, hence bringing sturdy shoes for the CITO and having another set of shoes and socks might come handy. If you have leather gloves, highly recommended to bring them as well. Hopefully swim-chasing trash will not be needed, but just in case anyone is eager to do so, i added the respective icon ;)
To use wesi's trademarked statement: "The CITO ends at noon, or when we run out of trash, whichever comes first." :)
The event has the okay of the Parks Department, who will again provide trash bins and other equipment as needed. Fellow geocacher coringa212 works for Westchester County Parks, and will again help organize things on site. Wesi can’t run this year’s edition end to end. Rather than to cancel and miss our 6th CITO, tanatko volunteered to take over, and together with coringa212 and leenie222 will be running things on site.
Like in prior years, we can again use the Picnic Pavillion in the park for the day, and we will also host a Picnic Event there after the CITO, from noon-1pm, see Saxon Picnic #6. You can attend the CITO, the picnic, or both, but only CITO participants will be eligible for raffle wins at the picnic.
