The Novi Dvor manor house, which some sources state was also called Marijin Dvor, began to be constructed in the second half of 1535 by Lord Žiga Višnjegorski. The manor took stage alogside the road between Radeče and Boštanj and the estate was connected to nearby Sevnica. At the end of the 17th century, Valvazor wrote the following about the mansion: "The Weichselstein mansion is about a quarter of an hour away from town's main square and has a beautiful view of the river. There is a lime tree in the large courtyard. Under the castle we see fields, noble fruit trees and wine-hills nearby. Nice views to the neighboring mansions. The current owner Zezecker, Baron Sigismund Wilhelm, beautified the mansion and decorated it with accessories." Arcade courtyard is hidden behind the wall, a neo-Renaissance wooden ceiling is preserved in the mansion and also a semi-chromed wooden ceiling in the salon. Before the World War II, the estate came into the hands of the Sisters of Mercy of the Order od St. Vincent, who established a women's monastery in the building. During the war the building served as a german anti-aircraft warfare base. After the Second World War it served for a time as the administrative headquarters of the coalmining communities of the Zasavje region. Since 1954 it is home to a youth correctional centre.
The castle Dvor is surrounded by the beautiful park Dvor Hotemež, certainly worth seeing. For its creation was important year 1853, when the estate with the manor was purchased by a wealthy and educated knight, dr. Ludwig von Gutmannstahl-Benvenuti. At that time, the Baroque manor was rearranged in a neoclassical style, and a park was set up next to the manor, for which the seedlings were probably driven from Trieste and the botanical garden in Ljubljana. The park is designed in a typical English landscape style. In the middle of the park is a giant lime tree, one of the most beautiful trees is Japanese sofora, a beautiful beech with sagging branches. There are still more, pendules, mulberries, giant arborvitaes, bald cypresses, Californian cedar trees, …
The mansion is declared a cultural monument, while Park Dvor Hotemež is protected as a natural monument.
So the geocachers wouldn't raise suspicion in the restricted area around the facility, I placed the cache container further away from the central area. You are welcome to read information boards about the park and the manor (additional waypoints).
