Buck Mountain Summit, Elevation at 5600 ft Includes a beautiful panoramic view of the Black Hills of South Dakota
Get to Buck Mountain from Rapid City, SD by traveling west on Nemo Road. Turn left on Norris Peak Road and turn right on Bogus Jim Road. Follow Bogus Jim Road to a turn off at N 44* 07.585' & W 103* 30.992' and park your vehicle here. From here the cache is only about 1/4 of a mile but the best route is to follow the trail north and turn right at an old logging trail at N 44* 07.698'W 103* 31.091'. Follow this trail to the top of the ridge, then follow the ridge line south to the summit. You will have to climb over several large loose rocks on the way to the summit. The cache is hidden between the tallest two rocks on the very top of the summit. If you aren't on top, you are not there yet. The Cache is a metal ammo container with a lot of prizes. Here are just a few: Timex watch, Toy Rocket Man, Toy Minni Mouse, Mirror, Pencils, Cuff links, Birth Stone Gem, Ring. There is also a camera for you to take your picture. Please make a log entry and return the camera for the next cache finder to use. I am quite certain that you will enjoy the view and will find that the short climb to get here was worth the effort.
