Geocache Description:

06 April 2019, 13:00 - 15:00

Geocachers are a creative and inspiring group of people! We share so much about ourselves through the creation and placement of the geocaches we hide. Geocaching would simply not exist without the people who channel their creativity and innovative spirit into making great experiences for others.

Geocaching.com has announced a special promotion called “Cache Carnival” to celebrate GEOCACHE CREATION and to inspire the next generation of geocache makers. Anyone who logs an "Attended" at this registered Creation Celebration event will earn a special souvenir from Geocaching HQ.

Everyone is invited to attend our local Creation Celebration event at
REI Co-op from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm and you might walk away a
WINNER!

A winner of what? The First Annual Maker Project Creative Container contest. We want you to pull out all the stops, burn the midnight oil, put on those thinking caps and show the geocaching community what you can do. Your cache container can be any size as defined by the guidelines at geocaching.com. Everyone attending will have their chance to cast a vote for their favorite container. We will have prizes for first, second and third place winners. It is our hope that after the event, everyone will hide and submit their creative cache for all of us to find and enjoy.

We will have games and door prizes along with a few COs who will share ideas from their creator toolbox. Entry into the contest is not necessary to cast a vote for your favorite container and earn a smiley and souvenir from HQ.

Light refreshments will be provided. If you would like to bring a snack to share, please let us know in your Will Attend Log.

We will also have a variety of cache containers available for those of you who wish to decorate or camouflage your container at our crafts table. Only the caches that were built prior to the event will be eligible for entry into the Maker Project contest.

So mark your calendar and let's get started on those creative cache containers.
See you there!

This event is an exhibition style format. The workshop room (located in the far back right area of this store) will serve mainly as the area where the creative containers will be displayed and also where the CO talks will occur on the half hour between 1:30pm and 2:30pm. The craft table will be available during the entire event for anyone who wants to decorate or camouflage a container. (materials provided or you can bring your own)

When you check into the workshop room and sign the log, you will pick up an attendee packet that will contain the following:
1) Event program - timeline of speakers 2) Event Gamepiece - The game piece will be a fun adventure that will take you throughout the store and for a short stroll while you play Waterside Walkabout. Details will be shared at the event. 3) Ballot for Creative Container Contest (1 vote per person) 4) Door prize ticket - Door prizes will be drawn every half hour. If you are in the middle of playing the event game, you can check back into the workshop to see the winners posted on the workshop board.
