Nella parte bassa di Pietrabuona ha sede il Museo della Carta, che raccoglie le testimonianze della secolare attività che si svolgeva nella zona.
Nel 2004 l'Associazione Museo della Carta di Pescia Onlus acquistò la vicina antica cartiera Le Carte, uno dei monumenti più rilevanti di archeologia industriale presenti in Italia, con tutti gli impianti produttivi risalenti al 1700-1800.
Questa cartiera fu costruita nel 1710 e operò fino al 1992 producendo carta fatta a mano.
Attualmente è in fase di ristrutturazione e sarà la sede del nuovo Museo della Carta di Pescia.
La cartiera Le Carte presenta la tipica struttura del modello cartario detto genovese-toscano:
- piano terra: preparazione dell'impasto e creazione dei fogli di carta;
- primo piano: bottega per la rifinitura e abitazioni delle famiglie dei cartai;
- ultimo piano: con ampi finestroni per l'asciugatura dei fogli.
Nella cartiera lavoravano e vivevano gli imprenditori, i mastri cartai e i lavorenti, dando luogo a una comunità nella comunità, caratterizzata spesso da vere e proprie strategie matrimoniali, architettate al fine di mantenere i segreti della lavorazione all'interno di una cerchia ristretta.
Il Regolamento dell’Arte della Carta all’uso di Toscana del 1820 chiarisce mansioni e doveri:
- il Ministro della cartiera: sorvegliava tutte le fasi della lavorazione;
- il Mastro Cartaio: tesseva il foglio e vigilava sulle fasi più qualificate della produzione;
- il ponitore: poneva il foglio su un feltro dopo averlo levato dalla forma;
- il prenditore: estraeva la forma dalla tina con la pasta di carta;
- lo studente, detto il reggente delle pile, il ruolo più contestato;
- il levatore: levava i fogli dai feltri.
A queste figure si aggiungevano le donne, che ricoprivano vari ruoli:
- la straccina: stracciava i cenci, selezionandoli e ripulendoli;
- l'ammanitora: staccava i fogli uno dall'altro;
- la spandente: poneva i fogli sulle corde di canapa degli spanditoi;
- la battitora;
- la sceglitora.

In the lower part of Pietrabuona there is the Paper Museum.
In 2004 the Associazione Museo della Carta di Pescia Onlus bought the close ancient Paper factory Le Carte, one of the most important examples of industrial archaeology in Italy, with all the production facilities of 1700-1800.
This paper factory was built in 1710 and worked until 1992 producing handmade paper.
At the moment Le Carte Paper factory is under restoration and will be the headquarters of the new Paper Museum.
Le Carte Paper factory has the typical Genoese-Tuscan structure:
- ground floor: preparation of the mixture and creation of the sheets of paper;
- first floor: workshop for the finishing and houses of the workers;
- top floor: with large windows for drying the sheets.
Entrepreneurs, papermakers and laborers worked and lived together in the factory: they were a community in the community, and matrimonial strategies to keep inside the secrets of the production were often made.
The Regulation of the Art of the paper for the use of Tuscany of 1820 clarifies the duties and the roles in the factory:
- the Minister of the paper factory: he supervised all the stages of the process;
- Mastro Cartaio: he weaved the sheets and supervised the most qualified phases of the process;
- the ponitore: he placed the sheet on a felt after removing it from its shape;
- the borrower: he extracted the shape from the tina with the paper paste;
- the student;
- the levator: he removed the sheets from the felts.
Finally the women, who held different roles:
- the straccina: she tore up rags, selecting and cleaning them;
- the ammanitora: she removed the sheets one from the other;
- the spandente: she placed the sheets on the hemp ropes of the spreaders;
- the battitora.
