Highfield Cemetery, Bredbury
Opened in 1929, Highfield Cemetery has a rural aspect overlooking the Goyt Valley, with many mature trees and shrubs. The cemetery has benefited in recent years from the installation of new gates and fences. Also many new benches have provided opportunities for peaceful reflection.
A natural burial facility offers the opportunity for burials in a more natural setting. There are no headstones for those who want an environmentally friendly funeral. This will eventually help to extend an existing old rural space.
Local Councillors and volunteers have helped to install woodland walks. FOSC have planted large numbers of flowering bulbs and refurbished the ashes Columbarium with the help of external funding.
