A new outdoor education space has opened at the National Arboretum to encourage visitors to learn more about the trees and shrubs native to the Southern Tablelands.
The Clearing is part of Forest 20 which is being transformed into a regional botanic garden by community group STEP (South Tablelands Ecosystems Park) in conjunction with the arboretum.
Since 2009, hundreds of trees representing 16 different species of Eucalyptus, as well as an understorey of shrubs, herbs and grasses, have been planted on what was a barren slope.
Plenty of parking is nearby .The Aboretum is only open between 6 am and 8 pm daily. Enjoy the walking area, seats and signage and the way the STEPS works. The cache is small and contains a log book and pencil within a zip lock bag plus plenty of swaps. FTF TO.....Tankengine.
