PIAZZA DE FERRARI - Piazza de Ferrari (intitolata nel 1877 a Raffaele De Ferrari, duca di Galliera, uomo politico e banchiere) è la piazza principale di Genova e ne rappresenta il fulcro finanziario, economico e turistico. Situata nel quartiere Portoria, ha una forma irregolare, dovuta alle diverse manipolazioni urbanistiche, e occupa una superficie di circa 11.000 mq. La piazza è costeggiata da importanti edifici di epoche e architetture diverse: Il Palazzo Ducale sul lato occidentale, il Teatro Carlo Felice (1828) e l'Accademia Ligustica di Belle Arti (1757) sul lato nord, gli eclettici edifici di Via XX Settebre e Via Dante ad est e a sud. A fianco al teatro si aprono Via XXV Aprile e Via Roma (affiancata da Galleria Mazzini), eleganti e piene di boutique. Al centro della piazza è posta una fontana, costruita nel 1936 su progetto dell'architetto Giuseppe Crosa di Vergagna, divenuta ben presto uno dei simboli della città assieme alla Lanterna. Piazza De Ferrari è stata, ed è tuttora, un punto di riferimento per eventi sociali e culturali, quali comizi politici e manifestazioni sindacali e studentesche, concerti rock, spettacoli di danza e di teatro.
TEATRO CARLO FELICE - Il teatro Carlo Felice (1828) è il più importante e prestigioso teatro di Genova, nonchè uno dei più noti d'Italia. Ospita la stagione di Opera lirica, Balletto, Sinfonica e la Giovine Orchestra Genovese, coinvolgendo ogni anno artisti di fama mondiale. Edificato su progetto dell'architetto Carlo Barabino, fu inaugurato il 7 agosto 1828 alla presenza di Carlo Felice e Maria Cristina, sovrani del Regno di Sardegna, portando in scena Bianca e Fernando di Vincenzo Bellini. Fu severamente danneggiato durante la Seconda Guerra Mondiale, e riconstruito successivamente venendo definitivamente inaugurato nel 1991. Rimangono del progetto originale il pronao dorico con i suoi bassorilievi ed il porticato; fu ricostruta la torre principale, allestendovi una sala a cavea. La Statua Genio dell'Armonia, opera del 1824 dello scultore Giuseppe Gaggini, fu sostituita con un calco, mentre l'originale fu restaurato ed esposto nella chiesa gotica di Sant'Agostino in Sarzano.
STATUA EQUESTRE DI GARIBALDI - Dinnanzi al Teatro è posta una statua equestre dedicata a Giuseppe Garibaldi, opera dello scultore Augusto Rivalta (1893), di cui sono notevoli il realismo e la notevole tecnica del modellato, tipici della scuola fiorentina presso cui si perfezionò e figli di una laboriosa fase di disegni preparatori.

PIAZZA DE FERRARI - Named after Raffaele De Ferrari, Duke of Galliera, banker and politician in 1877, this square represent Genoa's political, touristic and financial centre. Placed in Portoria district, it embraces a surface of 11.000 sqm and features an irregular shape, due to several urban manipulation. Buildings from different ages sorround the square: Ducal Palace to the West, Theatre Carlo felice (1828) and the Accademia Ligustica di Belle Arti (1757) to the north, the eclectic buildings of Via XX Settembre and Via Dante on the southern and eastern sides. Near the Theatre you can admire Via XXV Aprile and Via Roma (flanked by Mazzini Gallery), elegant streets plenty of boutiques. The fountain placed at the centre of Piazza de Ferrari dates back to 1936 and was designed by architect Giuseppe Crosa di Vergagna. The fountain soon became a symbol of the city itself, along with the Lanterna. Piazza de Ferrari was, and still is, the pivotal place for social and cultural events, such as public, political and student rallies, rock concerts, and other shows.
CARLO FELICE THEATRE - Carlo Felice Theatre (1828) is Genoa's main theatre and one of the most renown in Italy. It hosts the Ballet, Symphony and Liric opera seasons and the Giovine Orchestra Genovese ("Genoa's Young Orchestra", lit.), involving world famous artists. Designed by architect Carlo Barabino, its grand opening took place on 7th August 1828, staging Bianca e Fernando by Vincenzo Bellini, in the presence of Carlo Felice and Maria Cristina, sovereings of the Kingdom of Sardinia. The theatre was severly damaged during World War II, and rebuilt afterwards; it was opened again only in 1991. Only the dorian pronaos (with its bas-reliefs) and the arcade survived the bombing and the subsequent renovation.; the main tower was rebuilt, now featuring a cavea hall. The statue placed at the top of the building, Genius of Harmony by sculptor Giuseppe Gaggini (1824), was replaced with a copy while the original one was completely renewed (now, it is placed within Sant'Agostino Church, in Sarzano).
GARIBALDI EQUESTRIAN STATUE - In front of the theatre is place an equestrian statue dedicated to Giuseppe Garibaldi. Designed by Augusto Rivalta in 1893, it features remarkable realism and technique; these features are derived from a deep study with preparatory drawings.
