Geocache Description:

Millennium Park is the largest, most expansive park in the Castlegar area. It is located along the beautiful sandy shores of the Columbia River.

Tin Cup Rapids is located just off the Millennium Walkway. The walkway is a 1.8 kilometre wide, paved recreation path that follows the Columbia River to where the river meets the Kootenay River. Along the paved pathway is a sandy beach area, lookout points, viewing benches, flower gardens, picnic tables and interpretive signs.

The double set of rapids between the spot where the Columbia abruptly turns southward again and the point where it meets the Kootenay are today known as the Tin Cup Rapids. A name coming from the fur traders which once traveled these waters by canoe. In the late 1800s steamships traveled the Columbia River transporting goods and people.
