Geocache Description:

The church has many connections with the Stanley family of Calder Bridge, who came to the area in the 14th century. There are a number of memorials to the Ponsonby branch of the Stanley family.

At the west end is a stone vaulted ceiling, and a stained glass window by Henry Holiday depicting 'Faith and Hope' The eastern window is by Sir Edward Burne-Jones and shows the 'Cruxifixion'.  Some parts of the church are older - the chancel, nave and one of the lancet windows.

The approach to the church is across a dry moat, which encircles the churchyard, within a park like setting. An equestrian cross country course encircles the church. Views extend from the Lakeland fells to Sellafield.

There is a car park adjacent to the church, look for the sign off the A595 just south of Calder Bridge.

The church is open and you will need to go inside to answer all but the first of the questions below.
