Geocache Description:

The bollards nearby were once used on the former ANM wharf to secure barges and tug boats transporting newsprint rolls to this site from 1959 to 1986.
The old wharf formed part of an unloading and storage shed for ANM bulk paper storage. The paper was bought from the Boyer Mill by lighter and unloaded and stored before being exported from the Hobart wharves. It was an important part of Tasmania's post war development. It was constructed around 1949 - 1950 for a cost of 50,000 pounds. It operated until 1989 and the shed was demolished in controversial circumstances in 1996.
Take a seat at GZ and enjoy the view of the River Derwent.
