Welcome to Tinderbox, one of our favourite beaches in the Channel area!
We've spent many a lazy afternoon exploring this area. Thanks to the Tinderbox Marine Reserve, there's a fantastic reef environment only metres from the beach that's a perfect place for snorkelling, or even just having a peek from the relative safety of the rocks.
The rock shelf itself is also a fun place to explore - there's often plenty of shells and sea-glass to collect among the rocks, and the many rock-pools are often home to all kinds of interesting creatures. And if you've worked up an appetite from exploring the area, there's a great BBQ area just off the beach. There's enough to do around here that it's easy for a whole afternoon to disappear! The only thing missing was a cache...
This cache was placed on a beautiful autumn day, as we spent a wonderful afternoon celebrating the GeoWife's birthday. What better way to celebrate a birthday than with a celebratory cache?
The cache is a film canister containing a log only - there's little room for swappable items, and be sure to bring your own writing implement. The area gets quite a few muggles at times (especially during the warmer months), so discretion is essential. Please also make sure the cache is well rehidden in order to prevent it being found by any curious muggles.
Please note: the cache is almost always accessible via the rock shelf, although it can be a bit of a tricky proposition if the tide is especially high (although, at worst, you'll get just your feet a little wet). We strongly recommend against accessing the GZ via the clifftop, so if in doubt it may pay to check a tide chart before setting out.
Congratulations AlbyDangles, FTF!
