This stunning roadcut, and the wash below, was the scene of "The Raid at Comb Wash" in Edward Abbey's The Monkey Wrench Gang. If you haven't read, or even heard of, Edward Abbey, maybe you should check hm out. He was a controversial writer of the American Southwest. A cranky envoronmentalist who could offend nearly everyone, in some way or another, he could sure spin a good yarn. I hid this on a road trip across Utah, visiting as many of the locations in MWG as I could. This one s the first of the series.
