Geocache Description:

You’ll enjoy this hike DOWN into our Carmel Valley canyon. You’ll notice some great scenery in this nature hike. No bushwhacking needed. "BlackAce" found our geo-cache and noted that it was overflowing with stuff. Since then, I made the treasure bigger and better. .... the hint still holds.

This cache is located in a great little canyon close to our home that we wanted to share with you.

More specific details for those that want to enjoy a hike without the mystery ...
Best way to reach the nature trail is from Torrey Highlands Park in Carmel Valley. From the parking area in Torrey Highlands Park, you are .5 miles away from the treasure. Coordinates of the parking area are: 32° 57.658N 117° 13.349W. At the end of the park there is a great nature trail that is well marked.

The coordinates of the 1st nature trail mark you will see are: 32° 57.757N 117° 13.394W.

At the beginning of the nature trail there are several benches ... you can stop and rest a bit and enjoy the view ... there are several ways to get down to the main path of the hike ... you can either go to the end of the plateau just ahead of you if you are more adventurous or go to your right and follow the nature trail. My boys enjoy going down both. If you choose to follow the nature trail, you will come to a metal gurder (32° 57.784N 117° 13.384W). Either go around or under it and continue on the path.

At 32° 57.844N 117° 13.38W you will notice a descent to your left, start on down.

Once the path levels off (32° 57.926N 117° 13.459W), you’ll notice a small path to the right ... follow that path. You’ll be heading toward a beautiful tree out in the middle of the hiking area.

At 32° 57.986N 117° 13.435W you can either ascend to the right or desend to the left. Stay on the path that ascends a little to the right ... The tree I mentioned (32° 58.011N 117° 13.442W) is a great climbing tree for your kids if you choose to take a break.

The best point to start looking around a little off the main sandy path is 32° 58.006N 117° 13.388W. At this point you are very close ... 24' away.

Beginning contents of our treasure as provided by 4 boys between ages of 3 and 9:
Gold pokemon charzard plate, 2 chuck e. cheeze coins, a walrus, an alligator, a race car, a bouncy ball, a flash light, a magnifying glass, a few toy cars and a crayon.
