When I take chicken34 along on geocache adventures it in one way or another turns into a role-playing battle. Today was no different.
We grabbed our homemade wooden swords and started by pretending they had magic powers. His sword turned him invisible and mine made burritos. I got a big "Dadddd no a real superpower." I replied with "A burrito right now would be super!!" We made it through the field and to the brook. Any body of water usually takes some time to cross with chicken as we need to throw whatever we can find into the water rocks, sticks, ice, our feet, insert something from nature that can be picked up.
Past the brook and on to the trail. While I was busy checking cords to prior caches chicken found mud to jump in, ice to chop and dead branches to fight. Then came "Dad lets have a supervillain battle!" We had just seen the new Captin Marvel movie a few days ago so all the characters were fresh in our minds. I was going to be Ultron and chicken was going to his FAVORITE character Thanos. We fought back and forth along the icy trail fending off superheroes and other villains until we reached this spot. Chicken held our spot while I hid the cache and took the cords.
Then came the "Did we hide all the caches? Can we go home?". Yes I replied, let's call Mom and tell her we are on our way.
We almost made it back to the car undistracted until we started to battle the disc golf spots as bad guy bases and then there was that huge patch of icy we crunched, chopped and slid on. Another great day out caching!
He's not going to grow up right?
