The 2,900 acres of the Two Mile Prairie Area are part of the Withalacoochie State Forest and is jointly managed by The Florida Forest Service and the SW Water Management District.
The Johnson Pond Recreation Area includes approx 3 miles of marked trails and is one of the three recreation areas within the Two Mile Prairie tract.
The hiking trails are wide and well marked by Yellow Blazes. The hiking trail joins an equestrian trail, marked by Blue blazes, for a short distance. They separate again just beyond the blue 4 mile marker.
Because of the rough terrain and diverse ecosystems hiking here is rated Moderate.
The Blue 4 Mile trail marker marks the distance from the the Bear Head equestrian trail-head.
The Geocache is located approx half way around the hiking circuit.
The cache is somewhat off the trail but does not require any Bushwhacking.
The cache adheres to standards set by the Florida Dept of Agriculture and Consumer Services.
Florida Forestry Service Permit # 430.
